Most influential in career: While no one person had a major impact on my career, a lot of people helped encourage me--for one, my dad. When I was first interviewing for a TV job, he drove me out to both Sioux Falls and Rapid City to interview (it was over the Christmas holiday). Then, when I landed the job, he flew out East (where I was living at the time) and helped me drive me, my stuff and my two cats across the country to get settled. In Rapid City I had the support of many relatives who live out there who constantly encouraged me, and also helped me financially. It was tough to make a living in small-town TV in those first years. They let me stay with them for free, often took me to dinner, helped me buy my first car, etc. Without their support I don't know what I would have done. So between my friends and family, I feel really blessed.
Alternate dream job: I don't think I have one. This one takes the cake!
Sage advice: Take life a day at a time and trust that fate will work all the glitches out. Also, "there but for the grace of God go I." I love this expression because I realized how blessed and lucky I am.
